Investigations for completing material models for salt or Sorel concrete as well as special low-pH and high-density or high-strength concretes for the numerical verification of crack limitation for structures

The approach to conduct the integrity verification based on stress is indispensable regardless of the choice of host rock for a high-level radioactive waste repository in Germany due to the requirement to meet the state of science and technology. In this context, the UVERSTOFF project aims to complete the material model for concrete, based on knowledge of salt or Sorel concrete, with regard to the verification of crack limitation for construction stages and under thermal effects, so that the verification for the structure can be computationally conducted with an acceptable prediction reliability for engineering purposes. Therefore, a computational verification is sufficient for modified geometry and/or modified thermal effects, and as a consequence, separate verification through physical models or prototypes for modifications can be dispensed with. Accordingly, the low-pH concrete used in crystalline formations will also be included based on available data.
